Cat Island is one of the outer islands of the Bahamas, southeast of Nassau and Eleuthera. The island is very long and narrow, extending 48 miles from north to south and up to 4 miles wide. The terrain consists of rolling hills with wide, sandy beaches. The island also claims the highest point in the Bahamas, Mount Alvernia, 206 feet above sea level.
